DESCRIPTION 1939 GERMAN WAR MEDAL + (3) WWI MEDALS Rating: 8 Comments. Made out of what appears to be brass this medal is 1 ¾ " high/wide and is dated on the back 1939. There is a small ring on the top which could have been for mounting on a ribbon and it features an iron cross as well as swords. There is a trio of medals that are circa 1914 – 1918 which are known as the Cross Of Honor that includes one for a non-combatant and another for combatants both of which utilize the Iron Cross. Also included is another that has a profile of a gentleman in the front as well as German lettering on the front as well as back.
